Glenn and Nancy Thompson moved into their home on April 28, 1962 ( their wedding day.)
The 1955 brick rambler sits on 1 1/2 acres which was completely wooded behind the home.
Raising children left little time for gardening, but fifteen years ago the journey
and love of gardening began.
From the newly constructed sunroom, paths lead to
individual gardens that host tulip poplars, redbud, cherry, birch, maple, holly,
and dogwood trees mixed with azaleas, daylilies, hostas, camellias, and Japanese
andromedas. To the left of the paths is a woodland garden with ferns, hostas, bleeding \
hearts, and other shade loving plants.
There are two more azalea gardens south of the patio,
and the newest garden is seen when entering the side of the home.
Skip laurels outline the perimeter of the property and there are daylilies, roses,
hydrangeas, camellias, coreopsis, astilbe, bulbs, and sun-loving perennials in
neatly constructed beds.
Major physical features include two patios (one is elevated), a play area for the
grandchildren, and an eight-foot iron fence which has kept the deer out and made
possible the development of a highly diverse landscape.
