American Rhododendron Society
History

The Potomac Valley Chapter was formed by a group of people interested in rhododendrons
who lived in the Washington D.C. area. Its first President was Newton Edwards and
George Ring III was the first Vice President. The chapters first meeting was held at
the National Arboretum. Most of the original members belonged to the Middle Atlantic Chapter
ARS.
